Solidifying a Vision

The goal of my capstone project was to create a more defined brand identity around myself as a music artist. I studied my favorite music artists and dove into why I like them and their music. Why do I feel such a strong connection to this artist? How can I build the idea of artistic integrity around my art?
I realized that beyond my music, I lack a sense of connection and a defined presentation of myself as an artist. Creating media outside of my music would serves to fill this gap. Throughout my capstone, I produced an assortment of media that “feels so Matt.” I created with the intent of building up a picture of my personality. On top of that, curating a logo to represent my brand was crucial.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Matthew Payne primarily composes electronic music to release his creative thoughts. Supplemental to this, he creates visual art, which is often coupled with his music. He finds inspiration in the way music can store emotions and feelings. He strives to provide listeners with music that serves as a timestamp for their memories.
