The Devil of Artistic Fears

My goal was to portray the fears and anxieties of artists commonly have manifested into a creature. The Devil of Artistic Fears is designed to loom over the artist as it constantly haunts them. No matter how good an artist can be, their greatest critic will always be themselves. This piece represents that looming fear stemmed from the artist’s own mind.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Alex Woessner is a mixed-media artist born in Ecuador and raised in New England. At an early age, they were diagnosed with autism, and, due to this, they grew up feeling somewhat isolated from their peers, viewing their world and others in two different places. Their art is a product of this isolation, with Alex creating fantastical, surreal worlds and combining them with elements of realistic imagery.
