Freaks of the Vinyl
Freaks of the Vinyl is an art collection featuring colorful characters, concept art and ‘style’. Inspired by the works of mixed media animation such as Space Jam, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The Gorillaz, the goal of this project was to design a world where two-dimensional figures exist in our three-dimensional plane of reality. Through this, I wanted to work with my knowledge of photography and illustration to design pieces that played off the illusion of cartoons living in the same space as us. With this project I hope to elicit the same feelings the viewer would get from watching a Saturday morning cartoon: chill, care-free and feel-good vibes.
ARTIST STATEMENT: Peter T. Lopez is an Illustrator who dabbles in graphic design, photography, and web programming (y’know, the nerd stuff). When he’s not bumbling at the studio, he’s always looking for sources of inspiration to push him to his creative limits. Whether he fails or succeeds, he’s always learning something as he goes, becoming just a little wiser at the end of the day.
