No Surprises
No Surprises is a two-act stageplay centered around a group of students stuck on the second floor of their college library. Audrey hides herself behind books & funny quips, while Darin dreams of a day someone will remember his name. Mae’s mean girl reputation overshadows everyone, even her best friend, the neurotic nursing student Lydia. All while Ford, the frat golden boy, is just trying to return to normal life at a new school.
It’s a normal day of stressing about papers, deadlines and relationships. But behind locked doors they fight to keep their personal monsters at bay. What happens when they let them out? Keep reading. This dark comedy extends a lens into the nitty gritty of college life and will make you thankful you graduated (or hopefully are about to).
ARTIST STATEMENT: Emma Worthge is a creative writer originally from the Bay Area, California. Growing up she was immersed in many creative endeavors, finding her passions in script writing and improvisational theater. When she isn’t writing, she can be found baking or singing aimlessly through her house.
