Mary-Margaret Andrulot

Going to Sea

Separating yourself from the daily grind and finding time to focus on your personal well-being can feel all but impossible these days. Whether school, work, or any plethora of social expectations is the culprit that keeps us tied up, giving away our own personal time can feel like a necessary sacrifice. It shouldn’t have to be that way. Listen to yourself, and to what you need, and don’t be afraid to distance yourself from what wears you down. We all need time to stop and listen to the waves.

Going to Sea is a demo song about the mental toll seemingly unending obligations can have on our well-being, and the resulting desire to flee from society and return to nature in order to escape the pressure.

ARTIST STATEMENT: Mary-Margaret Andrulot is an interdisciplinary artist who works with poetry, vignettes, digital art, paintings, sonic art, and sculpture. Regardless of the form her work takes, she is consistently inspired by nature and mental health.

PROFESSIONAL DIRECTION/CAREER ASPIRATION: After graduation, I plan on honing my art skills and eventually publishing a poetry anthology as well as offering my art for purchase or online commision. I hope to expand on my interest in woodworking as well, and to create functional art to be available for sale in the future.
